CUHK Master of Public Health Admission Scholarship 2020-21 (For Full-time students only)

The CUHK Master of Public Health Admission Scholarship is offered to newly admitted students who demonstrate excellence in academic achievement. All Full-time MPH applicants are eligible to apply.

Number and Value of Scholarships

For newly admitted students from developing countries*: One scholarship will be awarded in the form of a full tuition fee waiver.
For newly admitted students from non-developing countries: Two scholarships will be awarded in the form of a half tuition fee waiver.
* low-income and lower-middle-income countries as defined by the World Bank.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  1. meet the requirements for regular admission to the MPH programme;

  2. apply for the Full-time MPH programme;

  3. demonstrate excellence in academic performance.

Important Notes

  • No award will be granted if there is no suitable candidate.

  • Applicant’s financial need will be considered during the selection process.

  • The scholarship may be held concurrently with other awards offered by the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, CUHK.

  • Applicants may be requested to submit supporting documents for information, if deemed necessary.

Application procedures

Applicants should:-

  1. follow the regular application procedures for the Full-time MPH programme (https://www.gs.cuhk.edu.hk/page/ApplicationforAdmission).

  2. submit a completed application form, along with a 1-page personal statement, to the MPH Admission Office by email (mph_cuhk@cuhk.edu.hk). [Remarks: Please contact our office for the application form.]

  3. Your personal statement should demonstrate your academic achievement.

United Board Faculty Scholarship Program (2020-21)

Through the United Board Faculty Scholarship Program, promising young faculty from selected United Board network institutions in Asia pursue advanced degree study, taught in English in an Asian country outside their own. Scholarships are designed as opportunities for faculty enrichment for developing colleges and universities in the United Board network in Asia that need to upgrade their teaching faculty, have a plan for faculty development, and are committed to whole person education for their students. The scholarship includes a full tuition waiver and US$10,000 for living expenses for the 1-year MPH programme.

Eligibility

  1. Be a junior faculty member with at least 2 years of experience in teaching at a University in the United Board Network in Asia;

  2. Be under 42 years of age at the time of application;

  3. Be committed to return to their home institutions after completing the MPH programme;

  4. Meet the qualifications for regular admissions to our MPH programme.

Pfizer Corporation Public Health Scholarship

The Pfizer Corporation Public Health Scholarship was set up in 2010.  The objective of the scholarship is to provide an opportunity for students to explore public health issues from a global perspective.  Through the scholarships, students are able to travel to other countries and apply public health frameworks learned from the school.  Study findings will be presented in their final projects.

Scholarship Amount:  HK$10,000

To qualify the scholarship, an applicant must:

  1. Be a Full Time or Part Time student in the Master of Public Health Programmes;

  2. Achieve an average GPA of 3.0 in PBHT5000 Foundation in Public Health course and POPG5001 Global Health course

  3. Study PBHT6900 Masters Project and submit a project protocol in one of the following areas:

  •   Health Economics

  •   Global Health

  •   Health Behaviours

  •   Health Policy

Screening of applications will be conducted by the MPH Committee.
